MAJOR OAK FISHING

There is simply nothing better than sitting by the water's edge on a sunny day, waiting for the float to go under to tell you you've hooked a fish. For many, fishing is something that just seems too complicated to even attempt, yet with a little direction and advice, it can be one of the simplest hobbies to start and one that can last a life time.

Major Oak Fishing's core aim is to introduce the simplest form of fishing to a wide audience. By using local canals for the majority of our sessions, and introducing relevant equipment for the venues used, we aim to ensure that all participants enjoy the buzz of catching their first fish (for the record, mine was a roach from the Erewash Canal in 1988!). We are blessed locally to have some wonderful canals to fish from and it is our aim to get more young anglers back on the towpath.

Our adult sessions are not just about fishing. We want to create an environment for people to start a new hobby, make new friends, gain interaction with other like-minded adults. We're excited to already be planning ladies only sessions, OAP sessions and more!

We are extremely thankful to the wonderful team at Shakespeare tackle who have supported our Major Oak Fishing initiative by sponsoring some of the equipment used in our sessions. By making sure we have the best equipment for you to use on the venues we fish, we can increase the likelihood of everyone catching. Don't just go and buy a fishing starter kit (they are more likely to catch you a fish in the North Sea than a river or canal!), we can talk you through exactly what equipment you need and are happy to provide a basic kit list with links to on-line suppliers if you want to start purchasing your own equipment.

All Major Oak Fishing sessions can be booked individually or as a bulk of 4 sessions. Payment for sessions is due at booking and are non-refundable. Bulk bookings qualify automatically for a 10% discount on the cost of the sessions.
